Our regular growing season begins in April (weather dependent). For the first few weeks, work at the garden is conducted as needed until the fields are prepared and weather allows for the majority of planting. Register to get our newsletter at the bottom of the page if you want to be kept up to date with what is going on at the garden week to week and to receive callouts for volunteering opportunities.
Soon after you enter, turn left and follow that road all the way past the church and the soccer fields. You will see the barns ahead of you. Follow the gravel road and bear right, then left. Down that road you will see our sign "FOOD BANK GARDEN and "WELCOME TO THE GARDEN". Park at top of hill.
Garden work days are generally 1.5-2 hours depending on the time of year (hours will be posted in Signup Genius). The average number of volunteers on a workday is 10-15.
In the first few minutes, our garden leaders will ensure everyone signs in then provide both work directions and tools necessary for each job. No prior gardening experience is necessary to be helpful.
We do provide gardening gloves for those needing them, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty including shoes as the fields can often be very muddy.
We have cold water and snacks onsite for those needing any during work days.
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early if this is your first visit so we can orient you to the garden.
We will be very happy to host you!
If you have a large group of 5 or more people, we ask that you complete the below contact form so that we can attempt to accommodate you. This ensures that we have plenty of work available for your group on the scheduled day and you get the best experience mother nature will allow for.
If you have children under the age of 12 participating we just ask that there be adequate adult supervision to ensure no one is hurt while at the garden.
